BOOKS-ONLINE - 5

I.Online exchange of books – A boon for book lovers

Books are considered by many to be the best friend of the human race. This is at least somewhat true because ultimately books keep increasing our knowledge without expecting anything from us. Books also serve as an alternative to our memory as we cannot remember everything, but books bring back the old, forgotten things to life. Books are, in fact, a good collection of the past and the present, with an insight into the future.

True avid readers never sit idle -- they always keep at least one book with them to read in their spare time. Books are not only a great way to spend leisure time, but they also help in the all around development of a person. It’s a tough job for book lovers to go on a shopping spree every time they get the urge to read a new book (which is quite often), due to lack of time, and also the expense of new and even used books. Those who are fond of books are always looking for new and better ways to get more good books. Some book lovers trade books with their companions, family and coworkers, but this is dependent upon them all having similar interests, and it can sometimes be a bit of a hassle.

Luckily, today there are venues available for book lovers to help them feed their voracious appetites for reading material. These online book exchanges provide platforms through which readers can trade books with other readers, without regard to the distance between them. These book exchanges encompass the reading interests of people from all parts of the country and are the best service available to date for book lovers.

Online book exchanges are easy to use and convenient, with everything done from the comfort of home. Any book lover knows how easy it is to order duplicate books, so the exchanges make available a personal record of the user’s transactions so this common mistake can be avoided. These services are a welcome gift for book lovers. If you’re an avid reader and haven’t yet tried an online exchange service, you should!

II.Free Online Books for Everyone

Why are not there more sources for free online books? There are cheap books, good offers on online book stores, or online books available for download, but mostly not the best selling books or at least not right at release date. The reason is that the book industry has not really figured out how to make money with books in the digital space.

Easily available and distributable, buyable anywhere where consumers have an Internet connection. In the novel 8W8 – Global Space Tribes by Ralf Hirt, the Internet-think-tank The Golden Sky each member uses a device called “Inraxx”, which allows them to do everything users desire or would expect from a device. So the world is turning digital, consumers want to have their books digital, too. No problem, but the book publishing industry has got a headache because of this. Who cares? The digital consumer may think, and actually, true, who cares? Free online books will be available more and more as the new generation is going to publish – digitally and explore other revenues streams than just book prices. Without natural resources wasted and logistics to be paid. The good news is: There will be more cheap books, there will be more free online books also. Online books will be there for everyone and the online book stores will need to do more than just boringly list their inventory, which are simply commodities in cyber space.

What is more in the world of globalization, the Internet, globalized economies and businesses everyone has to go new ways and in order to visualize this “8W8 – Global Space Tribes” offers a glimpse into the futures. From free online books to a globalized, flat world seems to be a long way, but it just all part of the change happening right now and everyone is part of it. Whether someone wants or does not. We are all part of this single tribe of human beings on this little planet we do not have quite under control. Understanding it better and making knowledge available for everyone for free should be the greatest accomplishment of the next few years.

BOOKS -AUDIO-LOVE - 4

I.A Great Use for Audio Books

If you want to talk about technology creating a feel good humanitarian story, then look no further than audio books for the blind.

We live in a world where information travels through the form of computer screens, newspapers and textbooks. Blind people have long struggled with many of the things that most people take for granted, including the ability to simply open a book, magazine, or newspaper and read the contents.

Additionally, using a computer and the internet to obtain information is much more difficult for visually impaired people. While it's true that Braille is one method for visually impaired people to enjoy the written word and gain knowledge, conventional feel-reading can be expensive and, therefore, not very helpful to many blind people.

When audio books for blind people were developed, it opened many doors for the blind, allowing them to easily get information, hear a story, and stay updated on current events.

With the mass production of audio books for the blind, and others, visually impaired people for the first time are able to really go online right now and download dozens of different audio books for themselves. With this, they have the ability to learn for free or cheaply in a way that has not been available to them before.

It is clear that audio books for the blind have really helped many people obtain an education that they would not have had ten or in some cases even five years ago, and it is yet another example of how the technological world we live in has created huge advantages for people everywhere.

No subject is off limits where audio books for the blind are concerned, so visually impaired people today are able to educate themselves in subjects like art, music, drama, economics, history, geography and literature to a point that was unattainable for the average blind person just a few years ago.

Great advances that have been made in blind education through audio books in the core areas of reading, writing, mathematics and science, and as a result, blind people are able to easily access educational audio books.

Audio books for the blind can also be obtained simply for the pleasure of reading a story. There are thousands of books available in audio formats that can be easily accessed for enjoyment by visually impaired people, and this includes popular and contemporary authors, fiction books of all genres, and non-fiction works as well.

Technology has come a long way in helping impaired or disabled individuals, and audio books for the blind are a perfect example of how modern technological advances can do good in the world.

II.Love Literature

Disclaimer: this article may induce feelings of nausea, disgust, or produce a generally bad temper that could result in violence towards floppy haired students.

The arts are an incredibly powerful medium for affecting people. They are the oldest form of mass entertainment, have inspired enormous buildings devoted solely to the purpose of their practice from the time of the Greeks, through the Romans and down to the present day. They have, at their best, a power to affect people, inspire people, and create revolutionary movements.

All too often literature is sneered upon - the arts are sneered upon. They are thrown to one side and discarded as pursuits for those who enjoy practicing their own pretentiousness and for people who like to read too deeply into things that should just be enjoyed and forgotten about.

The most famous books of all time? Religious texts. There are more editions of The Bible in publication than any other single book on the planet, and it has outsold Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, The Da Vinci Code and every classic by Dickens and Austin and anyone else you like put together. Whilst some would be offended at The Bible being classed as literature, that's what it is, whether factual, fictional, somewhere between the two, or merely educational, it is literature, and the world has been changed by it's influence.

The Bible is perhaps an extreme example of the power of literature, but it can be used as proof nonetheless. At it's best literature inspires people, it can stretch out imaginations and our horizons, lead us to examine our own actions and emotions, and look at those of others in new light. Literature, it could be argued, is the most powerful medium for exploring the human experience that there is. By the fact that reading is the most individual of actions, that most subjective of experiences, the same book can work on different people in a hundred different ways and still have a power for each one. Only the arts can do that, and only literature can do that to the same degree.

So in a world that people increasingly complain is too cynical, that we are all going to hell in a handbasket, literature and the arts can provide a different option, give inspiration when it seems that there is nothing more that can be achieved. It seems that hope and inspiration, even aspiration are all too often in short supply, people that would have been considered heroes are now marketed to the point that their real purpose is all but forgotten.

Literature has been watered down, the written word murdered by autobiographies from people with nothing to say, all too often people try to achieve something spectacular and fail, but literature is one of the few mediums where everyday people are trying to push the boundaries and everyone hopes to creating something mesmerising. Surely now, more than ever, a return to a literature that makes people aspire and imagine better things is what is required.

PARTY GAMES - 3

I. Children’s Christmas Ice Breaking Party Games

Ice breaking party games are a brilliant way for a group of people to get to know each other, get over shyness, and generally ’break the ice’ and therefore make way for festive fun. Icebreaker games are designed so that there are no winners or losers. The main aim of the game is to have fun as a group, so that there are no isolate persons. It also encourages the group to communicate and overcome shyness.

Here are three ice breaker games you could try at your children’s Christmas party...

Christmas Tree
The group sits in a ring with the host or play leader in the centre.

The host labels the children with one of the following (making sure there is a minimum of 2 of each)
Star, Bauble, Tinsel, Angel, Snowflake

The host now calls out one object. For example - Snowflake. All the snowflakes must now jump up and exchange positions with other snowflakes, the game continues in this way with the host calling out different objects and the children exchanging places with objects of the same kind.

If ’Christmas Tree’ is called out, all of the children must jump up and exchange places with other objects.

This game is fast and furious and energetic and usually very well received by older and younger children alike. It breaks the ice by mixing the children up and sitting them next to new people.

Christmas Theme Chinese Whispers
An old game that can be given a Christmas twist, simply divide the children into two teams and arrange them to sit in two lines.

Have ready some (previously made) cards with festive sentences written on them, but make sure that the sentences are out of the ordinary.

For Example - Rudolf likes Christmas pudding on Mondays, but Prancer likes plum pudding on Mondays and Christmas pudding on Wednesdays.

To begin the game, give the two children at the front of the lines the festive sentence to read.

The children then have to whisper the sentence to one another until it has passed up the line. Remember: Each child my only whisper the sentence once, they may not repeat it.

Finally, when the message gets to the last child in the line, this child has to say the message out aloud for everyone to hear.

There aren’t any winners or losers, its just lots of fun listening to garbled messages. If you have only a few children don’t divide them into teams.

Christmas Pictionary
Preparing the game - Have 20 cards with a Christmas item written on each. For example: Christmas Fairy, Roast Turkey, Holly and Ivy, Santa’s Sleigh, Christmas Trimmings, Christmas present label...

How to play
Divide the children in to two teams. Each team takes it in turns to play rounds. To play a round, one child in the team must be chosen to be the drawer for that round (The drawer changes for each round played) The drawer takes a card from the top of the pile and reads it without speaking.

The drawer then has tree minutes to draw what was written on the card. However, the drawer must write letters or words and they must not speak.

The rest of the drawer’s team must try to guess what was written on the card from the drawings, all within the tree minutes. A point is awarded each time a team guesses correctly (word for word) what was written on the card.

The first team to collect 4 points is the winning team.

This game can be difficult for younger children.

Ice breaker games help to introduce the children at the party to one another. Once everyone has had a chance to speak to a few new people, it paves the way for more party fun and everyone will have a great time.

II. Hosting Stress Free Children's Christmas Parties

Hosting a children's Christmas party can be stressful. The children are usually very excited at the prospect of new toys from Father Christmas. Of course excited children doesn't always mean giggly, energetic children; it also can mean sulky children as they experience a spectrum of emotions as part and parcel of the festive excitement. The Christmas party host or hostess has to be prepared for a number of situations.

Assuming you have the party food and venue covered, all you have to do now is to sort out a line up of interesting entertainment and party games.

Only choose games and activities that are suitable for your party's age group. If your games are too babyish, older kids will not participate. Similarly, younger children will find older kids games too complicated and will not want to play. Choosing games that match your party will mean that the children that you are entertaining will have a more enjoyable party.

If the children at the party are not familiar with one another, make the first few games non prize winning ice breaker games so that the children can play together as a group, and everyone can get over their shyness and make friends.

It's better to have too many prizes than too few. Party games tend not to last as long as you think they will, and you don't want to run out of prizes. You also need to bear in mind that sometimes children enjoy a party game so much that they want to play it again. If your game schedule is too regimented an unscheduled game will make you a prize short. You need to be a flexible play leader.

Dealing with children who don't wish to join in is always difficult. You want every child to enjoy the Christmas party but f course you can't give your complete attention to one child who is reluctant to join in. If after several urges of encouragement during the ice breaker games, and during the first prize winning game; if the child still wishes to not participate give that child a colouring book or a puzzle book and some pencils. This way the solitary child has a prize and fun, and you haven't neglected the rest of the group.

Seeing a display of prizes to choose from may sound fair and fun, but in reality it can cause arguments and sulky children when more that one child sets its sights on the same prize. Simply overcome this by gift wrapping each prize and having a lucky dip type system. This adds extra fun and excitement and the children will be content that this system is fair.

Forward planning at children's Christmas parties is essential if you wish to host an enjoyable party for all, and I hope these tips will go some way to helping your party run smoothly.

II.Create The Perfect Home Sports Bar

Create The Perfect Home Sports Bar

One of the most popular themes for your home bar is a sports bar theme. Even if one is not a great sports enthusiast, the fun surrounding a get together for a big sporting event at your own home sports bar is exciting! With the great variety of home bar accessories available, the possibility of a realistic home sports bar is great. How great would it be to have all the atmosphere of a commercial sports bar without leaving home?

Your first decision should involve what type of theme you want for your home sports bar. The size and dimensions of your room will have a signifficant influence on the sports bar theme you select. Oh, before I go any further, let me suggest strongly that you involve your signifficant other in the decision about your home bar’s theme. It’s quite possible that the idea of a home sport’s bar could receive a solid "thumb’s down!" It’s always best to keep peace at home.

Many home bar owners will design their theme around their favorite sport’s team, or teams. It’s likely that you already have items that represent the team/teams in your home, which will save you the time and expense of shopping around. If, for example, you’re a football fan, you might want to create a sports bar theme around a local rivalry. Texas vs Texas A&M, for example. You might want to have recordings of past games between the rivals for people to watch on a VCR prior to a big game.

If, you’re a sports memorobelia collector, having a case in your home sports bar displaying items relative to your bar’s theme can be fun, too!If you are a baseball fan, having one of those old fashion popcorn poppers can create a great atmosphere, (and smell, too!)You could even distribute the popcorn in a similar fashion to the vendors at the stadium. You could also have fresh peanuts and place them in bags, similar to the fresh peanuts at the ball park.

Generally, a big screen T.V. is going to be the focal point of your home sports bar. Appropriate seating should strategically be placed around that T.V. You might want to hang a smaller t.v./monitor above the bar for a "back-up. "A sound system should be in place to play all of your favorite sport’s related songs and music.

A home sports bar can serve two very cool purposes. First, you can enjoy the atmosphere of your favorite sport’s arena without leaving your house. and secondly, it’s fun and impressive to your friends when you entertain. So have fun with the process of creating your own home sports bar, and let your imagination be your guide!

I.Men's Grooming - Tips To Keep You Looking Great

Appearances are so important in this fast-paced life we lead. Whether we like or not, people tend to make a judgment on the way we look and this first impression can color how they see us as a person. Personal grooming is one area that is available to every man to improve his image. Once the domain of women, grooming products are now widely marketed for men. Here are some helpful tips to help men create a great impression by focusing on personal grooming.

The Skin.
The skin is the largest organ in the body, and is subject to the same laws as all our organs - if it is stressed for long enough, it will fail. Modern life places incredible stress on our bodies, and the skin is the first contacts with air pollution, chemicals in the water and air conditioning. The health of our skin is also affected by what we eat and drink - caffeine-high products, smoking, foods high in fat and sugar and alcohol all add stress to the skin.
* Cleanse the face and neck with a soap-free cleanser, at least once a day. Specialty facial cleansers are designed to clean deep into the layers of the skin and remove dirt and toxins.
* Use an oil-free facial moisturizer with an SPF15 or higher every day to hydrate the skin and protect from sun damage.
* Once or twice a week, use a facial scrub to remove dead skin cells and revitalize the skin. This is called exfoliation and it leaves the skin feeling fresh and improves the look of dull skin.
* Use an effective underarm, antiperspirant deodorant to always be fresh.

Shaving
Razor burn is the scourge of shaving for many men. It is caused by the friction of the razor as it passes over almost invisible folds in the skin, and is irritated more by hot water, chemicals in shaving products and sweat.

You can reduce, and even eliminate, razor burn by altering your shaving technique.
* Using an exfoliant regularly removes the dead skin cells which can clog a razor.
* Use a lotion based shaving cream rather than soap, which tends to be drying. The lotion gives a slick surface for the razor to glide over.
* Wet your face with warm, water and apply the shaving cream, using a shaving brush. (this helps to lift the hairs) Leave for 2 minutes to soften the bristles.
* Use a triple bladed razor as it is more efficient. Pull the blade in the direction the hair grows, not against - this is the most common cause of razor burn.
* Leave the toughest stubble till last to allow extra softening time for those hairs.
* Rinse off any residue - it may cause irritation. Apply an after shave balm - a great balm is pure aloe vera gel, which is soothing and healing to the skin.

The Hair
Make sure the style you choose is appropriate to the look you are trying to achieve. Invest in an appointment with a good hair stylist (doesn't have to be expensive) and ask for advice on what styles would suit your face shape. Once you have a really good styled cut, it is much easier to keep your hair looking good.

Hair products for men have also increased in number and quality in recent years. Greasy, lank hair is not a good look so use a good shampoo and conditioner as often as needed to keep your hair looking shiny and clean. Choose from the wide range of hair grooming products on the market to keep your hair styled and neat throughout the day. Many men dye their hair these days, either to hide graying hair or to create a fun, modern look. Make sure you use well-known brands or have it done at a salon to avoid problems.

Include these men's grooming tips in your daily routine to always feel good and look great.

II.Breast Augmentation – Its Not about Vanity

This year some 364,000 women will voluntarily lie on a Plastic Surgeon’s table in order to undergo Breast Augmentation Surgery. Their reasons for doing so may seem obvious, but in truth, there might well be 364,000 distinct arguments as to why they’ve opted to have the Breast Augmentation procedure done. For one woman it’s because she has never been satisfied with the size of her breasts. For another, it’s because her clothes have never fit her well. For yet another, one breast is clearly larger than the other and she is self-conscious about them.

Whatever their motivation, Breast Augmentation surgery has become one of the fastest growing and most popular procedures in the world of Plastic Surgery.

It would be easy to dismiss Breast Augmentation Surgery as vanity. After all, in today’s beauty-obsessed world, youth, perfection and Plastic Surgery seem to go hand-in-hand. Younger and younger women are opting to change their bodies through Plastic Surgery. But to blame vanity would be over-simplifying things. The vast majority of women who go in for Breast Augmentation Surgery are not going to be walking any red carpets. Most patients find their way to a Plastic Surgeon’s office after years of feeling unhappy about that their breasts. Many, if not most, feel incomplete about their looks, as though the reality of their shape does not match ‘the inner them.’ When this kind of disconnect happens between our emotional selves and our physical selves, Breast Augmentation Surgery can be the bridge that ties the two halves of us together.

Breast issues are tied inherently to a woman’s sense of femininity. After all, a woman’s breasts are not mere decoration. They serve a purpose. They feed our babies, and are admittedly useful when it comes to attracting the opposite sex. When a woman feels lacking in breast size or shape, or she finds herself avoiding mirrors; she often feels a lack of confidence about her femininity. Deciding to undergo Breast Augmentation Surgery is an extremely personal decision. Any Plastic Surgeon worth his or her salt will warn patients about both unrealistic expectations and about doing Breast Augmentation for someone besides themselves. In the end, you are the one going through surgery. You are the one taking risks. It must be for you that you do it.

Let’s assume you’ve decided that Breast Augmentation is for you. There are a few things you should consider:

First, do your homework. Who will your Plastic Surgeon be? An experienced, board certified Plastic Surgeon with plenty of Breast Augmentation operations under his belt and great recommendations is the first order of business. Breast Augmentation surgery is not the place to choose the cheapest deal in town. This is serious surgery with possible complications. You want only the best working on you.

Second, what type of Breast Augmentation implant do you want? There are several choices. Saline implants are less controversial than silicone implants, which have been long suspected (but never proved) to have connection to autoimmune disorders. But despite the risks, silicone implants which are safe and approved by the FDA, beat the saline ones as the choice for Breast Augmentation almost 9 to 1. This is mostly because silicone tends to feel more natural and doesn’t make any sloshing sounds. There is also a new kind of implant being tested in Breast Augmentation surgery called a cohesive gel implant, or ‘The Gummy Bear’ implant. This implant is made of silicone but a solid type that feels like a ‘Gummy Bear’ and doesn’t leak if punctured.

The size and shape of your Breast Augmentation implants will be decided after a thorough conversation with your Plastic Surgeon, and you are clear with him exactly what you want to look like afterward. There are 20 different sizes of implants available, so you will definitely find one that suits you.

Third, if your breasts are sagging and need a lift, a Breast Augmentation surgery will not fix that. That may be a separate surgery or can be included when the Plastic Surgeon inserts the implants. Women who have lost weight, or finished nursing a child and have found their breasts have lost the shape they used to have should discuss with their doctor what the best Breast Augmentation procedure would be for them.

You and your doctor can discuss the three choices you have on where to place the incision to insert the implant during your Breast Augmentation surgery. A periarealor incision is made at the edge of the nipple or areola and is, perhaps the most common type of incision with no visible scarring while clothed. Likewise, an inframammory incision just under the fold of the breast is common and will not show a scar while clothed. A transaxillary incision, through the armpit will leave an imperceptible scar under the arm and the site cannot be used for subsequent surgeries like the others can. There are risks and scarring associated with all of these incisions and it’s important that you understand that up front. Your doctor can help you decide which one is right for you.

Perfection is not the goal of Breast Augmentation surgery. For most women, it is about feeling better about themselves. Ask to look at before and after pictures in your Plastic surgeon’s office to prepare yourself for what’s coming. While it is a Plastic Surgeon’s job is to make the scars as unnoticeable as possible, there will be scars. Be realistic about your expectations. Your doctor will do his best to make your breasts look great. It will be up to you to begin feeling great about yourself again.
